Reinstalling Civ V (on same laptop) but "Key already in use"
Hello,
I bought the CD brand new on amazon last year, and i successfully installed and played it over the summer. I want to play again now that I'm on holiday, but it seems however that i can no longer play: Steam wants me to reinstall the game (I don't know how it was uninstalled in the first place). They now ask (again) for my CD Key: I am reinstalling the game on the same computer, using the same disk, and yet "the Key is invalid or already in use". Is there a way that I could get a new key, or to actually let me use my old (and original) one? Thanks. |

You don't need to register the game again, you simply need to double click Civilization V in your steam library.
If it's not there then that's a different issue. Make sure your steam client is set to display all games and not just installed ones, if you still don't see it then read this article and if necessary contact steam support. |

Don't install using the disk. Like Fish-E said, use the Steam client to install it.
