Bug? [lost gem related]

When I was in the room with the gem, I was moving boxes around to solve it but decided to just start over. I figured I'd get the safe first at least and then start over, so I opened the safe, left the room, and came back in. When I came back in, though, it must have thought I "solved" the room because all of the crates were gone so I could just walk right up to the gem.

I'm assuming this is a bug, because it would be kind of cruel to have the puzzle unsolvable without removing all of the crates :P

(also, before they were gone, I could push crates onto the gem, but I'm not sure if that was intended or not)

In case it's applicable, this happened before today's patch, although the patch notes don't seem to say anything related.
