Yeah, their fix for the awful hit detection in BC2 was to make the server intentionally lag everyone so they are actually a second behind where you think you are.

Then the hit detection is client side and only "confirmed as acceptable" by the server.

This is second for me in the most annoying thing in the game. First is Instant death which happen way way to much. Gets to a point where it's the most rage inducing moment in BF3.

I can handle being killed by most things without a problem. But being instant killed by almost any weapon is just not fun.

I never had this problem in BC2. NEVER. I didn't die behind corners either or when ducking behind a cover.

In BF3 it happened to me from the very start. Ducking or going prone is the most visible one. It happens every single round and the delay is up to a full second. Maybe even a bit more than that.
Instant death also happens every single round.

BC2 was massively better netcode wise.

Oh yeah, one shotted is annoying. Happens way to often. Going prone to avoid fire is pretty much pointless.

Only certain weapons can one shot, outside of that you are not being killed instantly. It may appear to be instant because the person that shot you is lagging or you are lagging, but you are being hit by multiple rounds. I play with 150-250 ping and people complain about this constantly when I kill them (including my friends on Skype), I also seem to die extremely quickly, when in reality it's just my ping making it look that way.

It's the reason that it may appear we die instantly that we hate it so much. It happens every single round. Doesn't matter if everyone is good ping or not.

Instant death are the worst thing BF3 has at the moment.

We're not talking about weapons which can one shot people. We're talking about when we get one shot by almost anything.

That's it!! One shot kills appear that way. A lot of times it appears we're NOT recieving proximity hits effects or (suppression), we only detect the last shot that nails us dead.

So if we don't detect and hear the 2 bullets that injure us, they are still registering. This can't be

But I play hardcore, and I'm sure I've got 1 shot head kills with my AN94, maybe their health was down?

When prone behind ridges I still get hit, but I've got others like that, they back away and thought they were out of sight and I can see top half or their helmet.

So there is lag and we have to play with it... now I'm gonna strafe and spray instead of proning or diving for cover.

Well in Hardcore you have 60 health, so yeah you die even faster there. But this is in normal mode, I should at least hear 4 hits in close combat but only 1 register for me.

Are you sure it isn't an HS? Usually when I get insta-killed it's a damn HS :\

Zefar's described what I was talking about. We've tried the interpolation bar at 3/4, 1/2 and 0 with no real change. It's screwed.

I've been instant killed by the M9 pistol. As in I only heard and felt one shot before I dropped. Normally it's those faster firing rifles that get me instantly. But plenty of other weapons do it too.

That still happens. Every single time in a round.

Wait what, don't you have a magical Swedish high-quality internet connection which effectively prevents all cases of bad hitreg?

I remember being killed plenty of times when running behind cover in CSS, I don't know if that game has client or server side hit detection (my guess is server side) but I had similar issues as far as being killed after you moved out of the way.

If BC2 had server side hit detection and BF3 has client side, I'd say that change improved the hit detection as far as reliably doing damage to other players. In BC2, again with 150-250 ping, I had serious issues with hit detection, in BF3 I've never experienced the third case presented in the video above (hit markers with no damage). I do constantly get killed behind cover and occasionally appear to be killed instantly but my hit registration is exceptional with this system.

Because of the hitboxes. They aren't 100% synced with the player models so they can be behind you. I think you can tweak them with some console commands. With the client-side netcode the hitboxes are all 100% synced with the player models but every client see different things, so if you think you're under cover, probably for the enemy you aren't.

This article explains how the Source netcode works: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/...yer_Networking

That was with Servers being the main thing that sent out information. Servers are also far better at sending out information to clients as that's what they where made for.

A PC should not take it's place and it's proven that things will just go wrong.

I'm pretty sure a single user with high Ping can screw things around pretty good too. Seeing that there is always someone with like 200+ ping on the server it isn't all that nice.
