Controls go haywire

I can run around the nexus fine, but God forbid I move when I am in combat. My character will start running around and not firing and I lose control of him totally for 3-5 seconds. This isn't a confuse or spell of any kind as it happens everywhere, I just started playing and thanks to this running me into groups I haven't even got past level 5 yet. Is this a known error?

Not that I know of. Is there a pattern to how you move during this? It may just be really bad lag if the movement follows what you do, albeit on a 10 second delay.

It doesn't seem to have a pattern, sometimes my character will move up and down even if I'd only been moving in one direction. I noticed sometimes the movement locks up even if I am not firing if there are enemies on the screen. I did consider latency issues but I have a good connection and I see other players moving around normally around me.

So it only happens when enemies enter the screen? First time I've heard of that before, you can try the main forums, someone there may have.

When you get frame rate drops in the Steam version, you receive input lag. What this is is exactly what you described; your character continues to move forward even after letting go of the button.

This can be all solved if you play on the browser version. If you like Steam window mode or fullscreen mode, you can download "Swiffout" and that'll allow you to have the same thing but without Steam versions input lag.

I'm really tired of people suggesting that this doesn't exist on the browser version. Many, many browser players report the exact same thing occurring, usually due to too many enemies on the screen.

This is not unique to Steam, and you won't fix it by switching to the browser.

Then it's a user sided problem. It doesn't happen to me. I remember playing on the Steam version at Oryx. I wouldn't be able to dodge bullets/bombs because it would keeping moving even after I let go. I switched to the browser version and guess what happened? I was able to do the "BE SILENT" bomb phase without even getting hit anymore.

I even reinstalled the Steam version right now to test, horrible... how can you play like that? Losing your character for a second everytime you FPS lag. Dropping to 40 FPS in an empty godlands?

I just ran into a medusa, took a shotgun and I smashed my nexus button. Did I run into it on purpose? no, I wasn't even touching the button. I was hitting the back button but it wouldn't go back. It kept moving forward.

I play on Steam and browser as well. The only times I ever experience any sort of input lag, on either platform, is in an extremely crowded Oryx(70+ people), or if I get too close to one of those super dense godwalls.

And it is easily adapted to, even when it does occur.

You have much larger computer issues than platform choice if you get fps drops in empty godlands.

You're just modifying your gameplay style because of the flaw in the Steam version of the game. It's like using mouse acceleration and learning how fast to move your mouse side to side so you can still hit your target.

Simple fix: Use Autofire, dont spam buttons, stay out of areas with high enemies. I get the same problems sometimes, too.

I lag more on Steam, but both versions do it. If it consistently happens in the Godlands, then I would suggest remaining in other areas. And Autofire will not help with this problem. If anything, it will cause more framerate issues and possibly get you killed even faster. Button spam won't lag the game as much as bullet spam.

I've had this issue as well.

I completely fixed it by getting out of fullscreen mode, and making windowed smaller. It seems to be an issue related to lag, based on what I had to do to fix it.
