torchlight froze the pc.

like the title says, was playing torchlight on the hardest difficulty mode, and in 2nd or so floor of the first dungeon it locked up the entire pc, forcing me to reboot manually. I hate having to reboot the pc manually.
I have over 30 hours on torchlight that I played on a older pc and it never froze up at all. those previous playing sessions were on a lower difficulty level, if that matters.

Im running win7 64, 4GB ram, ATI HD5450 and AMD phenom II X2 3.2GHz.

Any input on what might have happened and how to prevent any such stuff in the future?
