Is it possible for VALVe to take such a big decision?

I was wondering if VALVe ever start working on bringing Tf2 back to it's older version. You know when there were no hats, misc, trading, crafting, Mann.co store (paying real money for virtual items), unbalanced unlocks and useless re-skins.

But in order for VALVe to effectively start balancing everything, revive the old TF2 and optimize the game, it would be smart to remove all the hats, misc, trading, unbalanced weapons etc and start from scratch, like they used to do with class updates and all, not to mention it would be easily to optimize if you don't have the unneeded content, plus there would be less bugs to fix as most of the bugs, especially in the unneeded content, would be gone along with the deleted content.

I know that most people like hats, misc, trading etc and don't want to call them unneeded or want them to be removed but if TF2 can be brought back to it's awesome form by sacrificing them then it is worth it. Though I may remind you that this thread is not to argue whether hats, misc, trading etc should be removed or not.

But rather my question is, Can VALVe make such a move? Is it possible? what about all those who paid real money, hoarded metal and keys? Will they be cheated? Well I know they will be some resentment but the game belongs to VALVe right? They can do whatever they want to it, right?

So the only reason why VALVe doesn't fix the game is probably because they sorta changed and broke it to the extent that it can't be reversed?

Or is there still time for VALVe to bring back the good old TF2? (Not saying they should but rather, is it possible?)

AHAHAHA no.
People have invested 1000's of dollars in this game and would be incredibly jarateed if that happened. Valve would lose a ridiculous amount of customers, including me.

I would enjoy a TF2 Classic mode that uses a 2007 build of the gameplay content, but still uses the updated engine stuff so it's compatable.

Perfect, I'd say. Stuff like an official cp_dustbowl_classic (as an example) that only runs stock weapons or weapons up until the Engie update. (Hats still there)

EDIT: "You must spread some reputation around before giving it to 2560x1600@120hz again"

Should have read further. Because it is not about removing hats, rather the possibility of it.

Yes, I'm aware of that but the question revolves around, can VALVe do it for the sake of the classic game that was probably the most greatest game ever made? Do they have the power to reverse it regardless of what their customer would do? They already went F2P, so it is not really the issue of losing profit I believe.

Yes, it is not about going back to a certain version but rather, working in the original direction of making a optimized and well-balanced FPS game rather than a trading-hat-simulator.

You clearly know little to nothing about writing a persuasive argument. What you do at the start is tease them with information which captivates them into reading the rest, not bore them to beg VALVe to add a -rep feature.

You really shouldn't be revealing their business plan on the internet like that.

This. Valve won't remove ANYTHING they've added to the game already. Especially content people have paid for.

Hmm? I'm pretty sure that guys answer was relevant to your question, valve obviusly wouldn't do that for reasons like that.

"Valve has done irreversible damage to the game"

The majority of the bugs in the game are cosmetic bugs only. The game still runs fine.

As for going back way to 2007, the game didn't start going downhill until late 2010, there's no need to remove everything from the game. Without unlocks the game would probably get stale.

I hope that in the future though, if they ever make a TF3, they focus only on game balance and a FEW cosmetic items. Cosmetic items are fine so long as they aren't the main focus of the game.
