Frustrated I borrowed the files from my friend who got it through a different medium. I found through looking at the files that the Steam version PortRoyale3.exe was larger than his version. I tried copying the file from his version straight into my steam folder and started using the play button in steam.

Amazingly the game seems to be working perfect now and even updates correctly. Whatever the issue is is located directly in the Steam version of the .exe it seems. Just thought I'd share what my dabbling brought about.

Does anyone have a working .exe they can upload somewhere?

read the post too and was wondering why no one posted the 'working' .exe somewhere? I am also wondering why some people seem to play the steam version fine while others don't (see forum). has this to do with the steam region. i'm in Australia - and my PR3 doesn't start ...

Seems that most of the posts are on the kalypso site about this problem.
I'm in Korea so I expect more posts to show up when it becomes day in Europe and the Americas.

I think that this seems to be an unusual problem. The kalypso rep who replies often at the Kalypso forums says that testing was done with steam versions before.

Is the problem with steam versions only and only a specific part of them? I am curious to find out the cause since I haven't seen many problems like this before.

The version linked is 1.1.0, which has a bug which effects me.
Do you have a link for the latest version? 1.1.2 ?
