Does game have a defined end?

I have played Port Royale 2 and Patrician IV in the past so I am fairly familiar on how the games work. My one question is this. Is there a way, whether in the campaigns or in the free play mode, to conquer the entire carribean and "win" the game, or is it like its predecessors where you just keep playing and their is no defined end and no way to aquire more than a few new personal towns. I know the game hasn't been out that long, but this is something I really want to know about before investing in it.

i've read in a review, that you can in fact conquer the whole caribbean
game will most likely continue though.
