L4D2 Not loading.

I've been trying to load up L4D2 for a few days now to satisfy my zombie-killing needs, but every time I try, it's just stuck on

Preparing to launch Left 4 Dead 2...

and doesn't move. I'm connected to the Steam server, I can access store, community, etc. Anyone know how to solve this?

tried the "c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe" /repair
nothing happens

verify the game cache of left 4 dead 2
steam/games library/right click on left 4 dead 2/properites/local files/ verify integrity of game files

Last time I had that happen to me, I had to verify game cache files AND delete the ClientRegistry.blob file then relaunch steam to fix it. Usually located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\ or wherever you have steam installed. First thing though, do what restlessgamer75 suggested and verify your game cache files. If that doesn't help, then try with the blob file.

Rather than delete the file, rename it to something like ClientRegistry.old
Make sure steam is not running when you rename the file. When you relaunch steam, it will do an update.
