Is it very hard to play co-op with random players?

Cause I think voice chat is kinda mandatory for this game?
Or am I completely wrong?

It helps but isn't necessary if both players can aim well. Comes in handy when you want to time your shots if coming out of stealth but text chat works well too.

I haven't been able to find any coop games

But if it's like MP, I'm sure it's good.
