Question Why Do You Love (or hate) cp_orange_x3?

It's massive popularity is something of a mystery to me. It's easy to see what's wrong with it, but what exactly do people like so much about it?

Sniper battles.
Not that I like it. Just saying that for the people that do like it, that's why.

Large open areas are made for a jumper demos and that tower in the center is like a breeding ground for Trolldiers.

It's a terrible map, but I'll go there when all the servers on my favorites list are full or completely empty. It's a good place to practice sniping because it's usually all crits and enemy snipers don't have to be good to be a threat.

I liked it when I was new. Then I took some good map taste to the soul.

Really, for somebody that doesn't grasp the importance of a good map, it's an alright choice that you might go on for whatever reasons. I used it when I was new to practice up on being a Spy because, well... *points to the previous posts*.

I think it's popular because people can actually get tolerable FPS on it.

I don't care for orange_x3 much now that I've gotten used to my main server's variation of it that has some decent sniper cover, sewers for nice flanking, health packs, nice miscellaneous additions and 2 Sniper and 2 Scout class limits.

It's actually a pretty darn legitimate map.

I love it because all the oblivious tunnel-vision Snipers never see me flying to their faces as a Sticky Jumper-Caber Demo

It's way too wide open and flat. Nowhere to hide from infinite range Snipers. Luckily, most of them are bad.

I have the same reasons as everyone here and I'll add that it takes real teamwork to win.

No ammo or health packs so you need competent Engies and Medics.
A few good snipers never hurt.
Scouts, SJ Demos with Pain Train are good for quick caps.
Soldiers own the tower.
Pyros reflect kill the tower soldiers and airblast anyone off the roof.
This is the one map where the CnD is useful as there's not a ton of reliable metal around.
Heavy-Medic uber combos are essential for clearing the last point.

Every class is needed and needs to be played with great teamwork to win this map.

That said, most people don't give a plop.
