Unhappy No way to play voice through an output different to game audio?

Ok, I cannot hear anyone I voice chat with in Steam - their voice is played through my main speakers instead of my headset. While I can set my mic to be my headset's mic, I cannot seem to use it to play only voice, so I can actually hear people speaking over game audio.

This seems so obvious and thus really badly thought out. What is the point of voice chat existing in Steam if you can't hear anyone over the games because you can't set separate outputs? Madness...

I guess I can use Skype, Vent, etc, but it's a shame, and of course a PITA as using Steam voice chat would mean no extra hassle and people having different VoIP apps, etc *sigh*
