Thanks for the tip, but it isn't compatible with Windows 7 or Vista.

Darn

I would imagine the game still works, but is not officially supported for help.

Here's a link to a patch that makes the game a little more stable on Vista and 7.

Link

This site with the patch claims that the Steam version was fixed on Feb 18, 2011, and the patch is no longer needed.

Edit: a quick look in the Steam forum suggests that this is indeed the case - the game should run on Vista / 7 straight as downloaded from Steam.

I joined but don't see the download anywhere. Does it just appear in your not installed games list or is it meant to automatically install?

I imagine they won't be given out until the deadline (10am Pacific Time on Tuesday, May 15, 2012).
EDIT: Announcement was updated - gifts are distributed by May 29th.

Thanks OP for the heads-up.

I think it's a 'wait a bit' kind of thing.

Will you get the game if it's not available in your region?

Ran off, joined the group, posted on G+ and Facebook, went to my library... oh I already own it. *#(!!! LOL

Thanks anyway, I added the wife's account too so it's not a total blowout.

My review of the game is here.

In short, some people defend the game for nostalgic appeal, but coming into the series fresh I find the game lacking considerably. The premise is intriguing, but the execution is quite poor by today's standards IMHO.

Of course, I wouldn't turn down a free game though, and I hope you enjoy it more than I did.
