Will Russian version activates and works fine?

So yeah. I am from France, and i have a friend in Russia.
He is going to buy me Max Payne 3. But I am not sure if this game is not going to be region locked.
Is someone checked it out already?

So? that doesnt tell me anything. If he going to buy now, and send this game to me, can i still play it? Isnt it region locked?

There has not been an official answer so far, so no one can give you any guarantees.

The RU version is supposed to be region free, however you can't purchase the Ru version anymore because
EVERY version bought in Russia after 3.5.12 will be a CIS version which has a region lock, activation AND playable ONLY IN RUSSIA or other CIS countrys, so beware!

Russian versions bought before May 10 is not region locked, got all languages and will give Max Payne classic bundle (only on Russian).
Russian versions bought after May 10 got their ID changed and will not launch outside Russia territory.
CIS version from Belarus/Ukraine became avalible at May 2 and is region locked to CIS countries including Russia and will give no classic MP games at all.

Publishers become more and more sick with these restrictions.

I have RU version activated. the problem is i have max payne 1 and 2 twice in my library. russian and english. i asked steam support to only remove max payne 1 and 2 rus versions. they don't want to do it.
they said they can only remove max payne 3 and put it in my inventory to trade lol.

That's it. I have the same. I pre-ordered the game in Kazakhstan. That's the CIS region and it's region-locked. Russia is in the CIS, too.

Sorry, but it seems that you won't be able to play Max Payne 3 in France, if the Steam game was bought in Russia.

I have pre-ordered MP3 in the 5th of May. When I press on "Store page" of MP1 or 2 I get to the main Steam store page. If I find Max Payne page, it's offering me to buy the game. So my question is: wtf? It looks like I have Russian language versions only. And Russian MP3 will be most likely with Russian language only too.

So Mr. Bestik will have to play MP3 on Russian.

You won't be able to - unless you are on Russian IP address. All Russian version from Steam are locked.

You can either purchase the game from Russia (where it's much cheaper, I assume?) and download a crack. Or you can connect to a Russian VPN and play using Steam as normal (as in Steam will think you are in Russia). Of course, multiplay will be terrible.

If you choose to crack, the game will update fine as normal, but it will do so automatically and there will be no way to stop the download - because you are on France IP address and Steam doesn't know you have the game.

To delete the game, you will have to connect to a Russian VPN and delete as normal.
