Sell your soul for some chocolate. Is this society?

A while ago I was at the mall, and I saw this temporary kiosk of some company. They were handing out chocolate bars to people who "liked" their companies profile on Facebook. They had these large boxes of chocolates, and a few computers setup at their kiosk for this very purpose. They insisted that people login to their Facebook account there, like their company, then they'd get a free bar of their choice. Would you do this for something that's only worth 50˘? I wouldn't.

And yet, it was packed. About 40+ people were huddled around that kiosk just trying to get themselves free stuff. I think they had it setup so you also had to add their company profile, and allow it to make posts to your wall too. So they could spam you and your friends at a later date. I was surprised at how many people went for this. Is this the state of society? Sell your soul to a corporation for some chocolate.

There are two things in the universe that will never change: Hydrogen and human stupidity.

Hydrogen changes into helium all of the time.

What about the nature of space? If it changed, nothing could exist within it.

Then go back with a fake moustache on and get more candy...Repeat...You get loads of free candy and become a master of disguise at the same time. Double WIN and sticking it to the man!

Seems worth it to me. You ignore thousands of adverts everyday, anyways. If anything, it would be the trouble of bothering to log in that would put me off.

You forgot to give us the address!

And liking something on facebook for free stuff doesn't really sound like selling a soul...

I've done several "Get free stuff" things, where they say you need to "like" them on FB. I just fill out the form, don't even log into FB, and a few weeks later, BAM! It's arrived. If I ran into this in the mall, I'd keep on walking.

I was taught, never take candy from strangers. Unless it's a Twix. Twix are really good.

Why are so many companies asking for facebook "likes" ?

I hear radio broadcasters begging for these likes every few hours, it confuses me.

I do not use facebook, but I would assume that when you like something, your friends will be able to see what you have liked. It is free advertising for them.
