Avernum 4-6 character portraits

I downloaded the demos for them from the spiderweb website and have noticed the steam version uses new character portraits.

I prefer the old ones better, don't suppose there is a way to get them back? I've tried copying the old bmp files over the new ones but no luck

EDIT: Solved it by copying all demo folders over the steamapps folder files, not just the portraits.
