How to buy perks?

I can't work out how to buy perks for units from cities that have build a structure on a special area, like a labrynth. The manual doesn't offer any real help either. Anyone know how to do it?

You simply get a little arrow that apears near the unit portrait that you have selected if you click it you can buy the upgrade but not all of the upgrades are available for all units, some of them can only used on curtain units, also the troops you train in a city which has such a perk building automaticly are already equiped with the perk so you dont have to upgrade them anymore.
