Constantly Being Invited To Groups? Bots?

Has there been a recent increase of group inviter bots lately, because I'm getting invited to about 10 groups every few days by people I've never met or heard of before.

Is there any way to prevent these bots from inviting me?

I have never encountered this problem.

Is there maybe a possibility that your Steam ID is easy to find on websites or something like that?
And I know that some servers invite every player that has played on it to their groups (Kritzkast for example).
Do these groups have a large number of people in it? If so, it could be one of those servergroups.

Maybe having 211 friends and belonging to 62 groups has something to do with it?

As far as I'm aware, my Steam ID is only visible from Steam and the Steam forums.

Also, I'm getting the invites to groups that have between 700 and 5,000 members. I'm invited to the groups at random, and have never played on one of their servers.

In the past 24 hours, I've been invited to join 5 completely random groups. However, I haven't even signed onto Steam to play an online game for nearly two days. So, I couldn't have played on one of their servers, not even by mistake.

The invites weren't sent by my friends, and none of my friends belong to the groups I'm being invited to join.

Also, what's wrong with having 211 friends? :P

The more you use a feature, the more you wish you didn't eh?

Nothing.

Just saying you belong to 62 groups. So that may flag other groups to send you invites.

I started getting a lot of group invites right after I linked my forum account, but not as many as you're claiming.

I usually get 1 or 2 every couple of days. It's pretty annoying tbh and more so when it says invited by xstacyx<3, with some random half dressed blonde taken from google in the profile pic who has 0 games and joined steam a month ago*... Yeah I best join that group

*example.

48 friends and 230 groups.

At the very least, I'm not getting spammed every minute by event notifications.

Valve, add a option to only allow friends to send group invites.
or no one
