TF2 Chat Problems

Before I begin, I'd like to mention that I WOULD post in the TF2 Forum, but I imagine I'd get a lot more help over here rather than in a forum where many are arguing over the Quick-Fix and a few hats with clipping issues.

While MOST messages appear to come through perfectly fine, I've found that some text chat messages and some voice chat messages (From someone using a microphone, NOT ingame voice commands) do not come through. I often play TF2 with a friend or two on Skype and it's often the case where those two see or hear a message that hasn't come through for me.

This has happened for a short while now and I'm wondering if anyone has any fixes or help they can offer, please?

There has been a few updates to TF2 since I first noticed the problem, but I've verified the game cache a couple of times anyway since to no avail. Even though it shouldn't effect it, I've also done the .blob client fix.

But I don't know what the next logical step would be. Any help would be greatly appreciated, please?

did you turn the windows 7 sound ducking off?

control panel>sounds>communication tab.

Yep yep. That's been off for as long as I've had Windows installed for.

Thanks for the suggestion anyway!

It seems that most text chat and about half of the voice chat come through fine. Just the rest is lost and never shows up on my client.

if your mates dont have it and reading the rest of your story I dont think the focus should be on TF2.

my guess would be something hogging the memory or other system resources.
how did a sound driver update work?

maybe play tf2 widowed a bit so you can keep an eye on the skype chat window.
it may help.

But what about the text chat issues?
Surely it wouldn't be a sound driver issue if some of the textchat messages aren't coming through for me either?

it makes as much sense just focusing on tf2.

I can say your friends use tf2 and skype and they dont have the problem , why try and fix tf2 "confused"

dont exclude anything.

Okay, that's fair enough.
I'll install the latest audio drivers given on the motherboard website and will report back once I've had a game while on Skype later tonight.

the drivers on the mobo website are often old get them from the source.

also have a good look at your security software.
