Why does DE try to connect to the internet?
I just bought the game and I noticed that when I start it that it tries to connect to several addresses. Can anyone tell me why that happens? I think updates should work via steam and there isn't really any part in the game that should require a network connection(at least I haven't discovered one yet).
Since I should be working, I haven't yet tried to find out what exactly DE tries to communicate, but I can look into that later ... |

That is likely to be due to it being a Steam download - it updates the Steam database to say how many hours you've played it for, AND to check for updates, etc.

For the records: It tries to connect to some servers of Limelight Networks, Inc., which seems to be a content delivery network steam is using. Still wondering why ... I think steamcloud and stuff like that is handled by the steam client itself ...

Have you thought of contacting the developers? I have a sneaking hunch they would know better than any of us. That and they're a very small independent group, chances are your question will go directly to the developer and they would be able to answer sooner.
