Steam Client Beta Available
There's a new Steam Beta client available. To access the Beta, go to File -> Settings. On the Account tab press the Change... button to open the Beta Participation dialog. Then Select "Steam Beta Update", and allow Steam to restart itself. Here are the specific changes:
- Fixed potential game crash caused by the in-game overlay in games using DirectDraw4 or older - Fixed startup failure on Windows XP SP1 ("unable to load library steamUI.dll") Last edited by jmccaskey: 05-17-2012 at 05:14 PM. |

My counterstrike is working, but its really choppy game play.
Can someone please explain to me what this steam client beta is supposed to be? |

Sorry man im a dumb. I don't ever expect to run in to these problems, i just wanna run my game and play it like normal. So its normal that my cs game play is choppy? I just need a junior high explanation.

Im talking about counterstrike 1.6
I had no issue before the update on the 15th. OP: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit System: HP Processor: Pentium Dual Core CPU Direct X version: DirectX 11 |

- Fixed overlay for games using older versions of DirectX
Does this affect Battlefield 2? I know that the Steam overlay in Battlefield 2 causes Punk Buster to kick you from servers when overlay is enabled for the game. |

These bugs surfaced again in full force a few betas ago. This one doesn't seem to fix them either.
