Thumbs up Thief Series Enhancements

This thread is Dedicated to Compiling a Database listing Thief Series Enhancements, Mods, Missions, & Patches for the Steam Community. Credit & thanks goes to RipNard for doing most of the leg work on this. If anyone has stuff to add or if I missed something make a post and I'll be happy to add it to the list.

First off, Steam uses the old version DDFIX mod. Here's where you can get the new version, needed for pretty much everything here.

DDFIX mod's Update thread. (Check here for Latest Version)
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121449

DDFIX MOD 1.5.12 Direct Download
http://jermi.dyndns.org/~jermi/ddfix/ddfix_1.5.12.zip

Just copy & overwrite ddfix.ini and ddfix.dll from zip into your Thief Gold & 2 Install Folders/Directories. DO NOT USE THE EXE they are meant for the CD version of the game. If you want to change the display resolution just open/edit the cam.cfg and changed the "game_screen size" line to whatever resolution you want.

If anything screws up Verify Cache & Try again

Extract directly to steamapps/common/Thief_Gold folder. It does not replace the orginal exes from steam so you will need to rename or set shortcut to THIEFG.exe to run the patched version.

No probs!

Really it my fav set of games and has still a really strong PC community still making addons and fixes! (also Deus Ex 1 and 3, Amnesia, Penumbra, System Shock 2 and very recently - Cryostasis)

That last link should be www.thiefmissions.com

Also don't forget to use Creative Alchamey to enable EAX to be selected in game menu (too allow full 3d positioning sound) in vista/win7 32bit or 64bit.

P.S. I understand this does work for some non creative sound cards that also have EAX. Its not actually specfic to Creative. It forces direct3dsound to be able to use EAX hardware http://ccfiles.creative.com/manualdn...LB_1_43_06.exe

May as well add these too (not tried these yet on steam versions but work great on the original CDs or complete collection CDs)all dated to 2012 and all still being updated!

Thief Gold "Tafferpatch" - best set of everything over the years

Same for Thief 2

Thief 3 fixes - thanks to great post here on steam forums from phaz0r which i have used before...

http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=1166808

and also - http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138607

And one to watch for Thief Gold....

http://www.moddb.com/mods/thief-gold-hd-texture-mod/ (beta is over 300mb of textures at only 40% complete)

These guys actually need the respect (wish I could mod too!)

All the guys at www.ttlg.com

http://timeslip.chorrol.com Timeslip that made the DDFIX that steam and GOG uses and made it opensource
http://jermi.dyndns.org/~jermi whom carried it on

Right!, that is now the extent of my knowledge. Please anyone feel free to add any more anyone else may know

Have some Rep. Dude you aint the only one. You have NO Idea how long I have been waiting to play my Dark Engine games again... installing them and getting them to run on a modern rig is a HUGE Pain in the ... much of which was solved by Steam. Now if only they could get System Shock 2 though i don't see that happening given that it's Owned by EA.

Here's a link for multiplayer coop mod for Thief 2 (up to 4 players if i remember correctly). I have played it with a friend and it's works, at least on non-steam version. Only the final mission is unplayble.

I get the impression that mods work with all 3 games. Can anyone confirm this? If they work, I'll buy them from here as they're on sale. Otherwise I'll buy them from GOG. I'm especially interested in graphics packs and fixes. Also, cutscenes. Original games used Intel Indeo video codec, which is obsolete. Can anyone confirm they play too? I've read the only thing they require are admin rights, which I have, but a lot of people are complaining, so I wanted to ask anyway. Thanks in advance.

Ripnard - would you recommend Tafferpatch over TG Texture Pack/NTEX, or both of them together?

I ran T2 for a bit last night with NTEX and widescreen, absolutely no problems. Also took me about 5 seconds before I remembered just how damn happy this game makes me.

Win7 x64 here. Cutscenes play, though I had to set Thief Gold to run in admin mode first. The games runs in widescreen, improved textures installed too. All seems to work wonderfully.

Additional Thiefy info

Also - meant to add to first post - ddfix link. Don't download and use the exe files. You only need the ddfix.ini and ddfix.dll from this zip (http://jermi.dyndns.org/~jermi/ddfix/ddfix_1.5.11.zip) and overwrite them in you thief steam directories.

Break anything - check game cache via steam and it'll re-download all the originals.

2012 Thief Community Patches from TTLG

GOT ALL the following unofficial 2012 community patches working and makes updating and fixing all Thiefs ONE HELL of a lot easier! Each one single download package.

Got Thief Gold Tafferpatch (Thief Gold v1.06) - http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134733

Also Thief 2 Tafferpatch 1.03 Beta - http://ttlg.com/forums/showthread.ph...=1#post2108202

And Thief 3 (aka Thief DS) Sneaky Upgrade v1.1.0 http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138607

First is just a zip extract directly to steamapps/common/Thief_Gold folder. It does not replace the orginal exes from steam so you will need to rename or set shortcut to THIEFG.exe to run the patched version.

Second and Third are full install exes with easy to follow guides. Best bit is that they both also fix Windows registry to correctly direct install links to the steam folders.
That way you can then also install the following Thief 3 texture pack (install .exe) without it failing like before . http://thief-thecircle.com/download.asp?fid=1038

The Thief 2 one also forces indeo codec register and quite a few other things.

I do a quick guide if anyone wants one but your best reading the associated ttlg forum threads.

Thief addons missions and tools

http://www.thiefmissions.com/
http://www.keepofmetalandgold.com/
http://www.thief-thecircle.com/missi...numperpage=128

Also please get this - it works fine with Steam versions and give you a gui front end for selecting and directly playing new missions and full mission packs.http://www.shadowdarkkeep.com/files/...SETUP_1_41.ZIP

Also - T2X - large full separate add-on pack http://www.thief2x.com/ that darkloader also picks up and allows you to play easily.

And finally and defiantly not least!!
If you have Doom 3 and love thief 1 & 2 - please consider trying this. Its won awards too...

Wow, Thiefmissions.com doesn't have the Queue anymore.
Hats off to TTLG keeping this game alive, thank you very much!

Edit: It seems most of the links for the T2 Tafferpatch don't work, would it be possible to request a reupload on a google drive or something? Or just redirect me towards a link that works? Thanks.
