What is this game like?

Anyone ever play Tachyon the Fringe played this game? Is this more of a flight game or fps game?

I have fond memories of Tachyon. Breakers is very similar in concept to Tachyons base wars mode, but where base wars had multiple sectors, Breakers has several one-area maps. For game modes, Breakers has CTF, first team to 50 kills, and first team to nuke the others carrier.

There is no equipment selection for ships. You add permanent upgrades to your ships, and unlock new ones, using credits (free, slow) or the premium currency HE3 (quick, real money required).

Control is mouseflight with throttle, similar to freelancer. This means you cant steer in one direction while shooting in another. It also means no drift

. I do miss slide strafing bases in Tachyon, but it is sadly not to be found here. Bottom line: worth checking out, probably not worth sinking money into.

Oh, you mean the gameplay? Slick flying and it is a flight game, but I wish the game had a bit more depth. Fiddling the throttle for a 180 is about as complicated as you can get in terms of flying.

It's a very shallow experience but it's a tiny download, free, and easy to get into. Selgin1 put it perfectly, Gaming popcorn... It is a great way to just kill a few minutes.

Try it... if you don't like it wash it away with a rump steak and a nice glass of chablis....

Yes, that was a classic Novalogic game in its day.... but do you remember who narrated the voice of the main character Jake Logan (think Evil Dead, gimme some sugar baby!)
This is not the same just a space combat game with some mild objective based gameplay... capture the flag, blow the big enemy carrier thing up, or just shoot the hell out of the enemy ships...

seriously try it out... you might not be disappointed !

I like it a lot, but not for a "main game". Definately good for logging on and blowing crap up every now and then.

It's Altitude in third person perspective. It's seriously fun and a very lightweight install.
