So does this Maximum Edition come with DirectX 11 support and the High-Res textures built in, or is still an idiotic "optional" feature?

It's like asking "hey, do you want your game to be the MAXIMUM game? Ok, go download something extra because it's just the non MAXIMUM game at the moment."

+100000.
I join to the question too.
And this version has DRM (5 limit activations) like the original or not?

Well it's about 3GBs bigger, so it looks as if it includes the extra content that was an optional download.

I'm not sure on the DRM.

I was wondering about this too. I bought the Limited Edition. And I don't care about multiplayer. The only reason I would buy this is if the DX11 patch & Hi-Res Texture pack were included.

Yeah, but that could be the extra maps.

I'm not 100% sure as it's still downloading. I've got some finals to study for, so I'll check again Friday.

Angel, do you know if this new version overrides the old one?
Or I will have 2 different games? (Crysis 2 and Crysis 2 Maximum Edition)

I can confirm after buying it yesterday that it does come with the hi def pack and dx11 already in the steam download and ready to go. Also, when starting the game up, it does not install anything other than the directx and visual c++ stuff. There is also no "activation" window that appears upon first install like the original version of Crysis 2 that appeared on steam, which leads me to believe it does not contain any other form of drm. However, I have not done a heavy scan of my system to 100% confirm this, but the signs show the drm is absent.

Still, an official word is better than any user on this issue I'd think.

Thanks a lot man.
To see if have DRM or not, go to Start/Games (On Windows Vista/7).
Right clic on Crysis 2 and if there is no message of "Revoke license" the game doesn't has DRM.

No prob. Though I personally never experienced any issue with the drm from the original edition, knowing that it's not there now still makes me happy.

No, it doesn't. You essentially get 50% off a new game.
