Lightbulb Suggestion: Remote Downloading Feature

Given that there is a remote download feature with steam and you can uninstall programs through steam. Shouldn't there be a remote uninstall feature for steam as well?

This remote uninstall feature probably would not be used frequently but it would add a very nice layer of convenience to steam.

Here's my reasoning/situation:

I picked up Max Payne 3 earlier this week and was a little disappointed to find that there wasn't a pre-download option so you could play it right when the game unlocked today. I figured I'd start the download when I was home, go host my radio show, then come back and play it. Well life got in the way and I wasn't at my house yesterday and won't be back until very early tomorrow morning like 3-4am. I was looking forward to playing some Max Payne when I got home by starting the remote download while I'm out.

Trouble is Max Payne 3 is a 30+ GB game. Now I'm not complaining about how large the game is only that my computer currently doesn't have the hard drive space on it's main drive. I have some other games installed using steam that I wouldn't mind uninstalling to start the install of Max Payne 3.

TLDR: Don't have enough hard drive space to install Max Payne 3. Have other steam games I'd be willing to uninstall to make space. Can't uninstall because I'm away from my computer till way later. Want Max Payne 3 installed when I get home.

If this is already a feature someone PLEASE tell me how to do it other wise I think this would be a great addition to the remote downloading feature.

This is not ment to be a complaint about how something doesn't work just a suggestion for a feature that could be added.

I guess Valve could imply some sort of "Cloud" service for this, i'm not really sure how it would work and I wouldn't expect it any time soon, but i can see where this would come in handy!

Exactly. Thats my thought it would be something that wouldn't be used often but it would be a feature where if someone needed it and it was there. They would say something along the lines of "Ohh wow thats really cool, they thought of that."

Well, I think it's a reasonable idea, since, as you said, there's already a remote install feature. I don't think a remote uninstall would be hard to implement.

I'd support the idea (though, well, it's not like I use the remote install feature now). Dunno how complicated it'd be; since Steam doesn't ask any questions beyond confirming you want to delete a game, I'm guessing not all that hard (since all uninstalls would work the same way).

This scenario could have been avoided in the first place if Steam could have warned you ahead of time how big the download would be and how much space you had left for it. It does this when you try to install from your computer, so really this oversight could be considered a missing feature or a bug.
