Official temporary fix for non-DLC owners

This fix is no longer relevant, as Infinity Ward has simply fixed it in the game.

So here it is, the official temporary fix for (most) DLC issues. Do note that this only works for people who don't have the DLC. If you do, stop reading.

1. Download iw_25.iwd and iw_26.iwd
2. Move the files you just downloaded to "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 3\main" (note: this is "Program Files (x86)" on 64-bit systems)
3. Enjoy the game again!

Important note: Downloading these files will not allow you to play the DLC without purchasing.


Before anyone shouts that this is piracy: I have formal permission from Infinity Ward to share these files with you, in order to fix the DLC issues.

What I get out of this is that there is a way to share files to play the DLC without actually purchasing the maps... lol

I bought them, but it seems interesting that you would have to specify "still can't play the maps" ... means there must be a way.

Oh I know. I am saying there might be a way based on reading between the lines of your tweets. These files wont do it, I just find it interesting that you had to make that distinction. It implies that there may be a combo of files that CAN be shared to allow for DLC play.

Like I said, I bought them and will continue to buy them, because I like Call of Duty and will continue to support it. I just find it interesting.

Does it work WITH DLC owners? I mean, I know it doesnt, but if I disabled DLC or something, will it fix it for us? I think before I got DLC, it was 5 potential games, now when I got DLC, it dropped down to 2 potential games.

Mind finding a fix with DLC owners? I'd really like it.

This is a solid fix, it will give you the same files as dlc owners, therefore no error.

There's no 100% fix for you guys, since you either have the files or you don't. To play with non-dlc owners, delete/move the iw_25.iwd and iw_26.iwd files, and to play with the dlc owners, move them back.

Why they can't give us these files via updating the game.Why we have to trust a third party person who gives us the fix and says it was approved by the developers themselves.

I really do not understand, are they too lazy to fix us the game for us?

Since it's sticky i guess it's safe to use though.

The problem with this fix is, that it's not official. Only a few players will know of this. It's a noble attempt though.
But won't help fixing the problem on a large scale.

From my view, i blame the devs for abandoning the game and not fixing the actual problem.But from their view, they probably blame the players for not reading the forum .
