Adjust the fog a little bit.
There still is a few places around the maps where the fog is really bad, and i think it needs to be fixed which shouldn't be too hard to do.

Here without fog: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/...1F6AE0B5CCC08/ - A little hard to see still, but that's because of my low res i guess, but ingame it was very easy to see him after i disabled fog. 2. http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/...37B345E5D453C/ - It's not so bad, but could use some improvements. Without fog: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/...63D51393A57B9/ he comes clearly visible. Fix it. Fog is adjusted over the whole map rather than in pats so any changes would effect all of it but yes overall we do need less fog.

What's their reason for having fog? All it does is just make the game less enjoyable. Disabling fog even gives you a fps in certain areas.

I certainly do agree that, if it's not going to be removed, at least it should be reduced to the point where it doesn't jeopardize gameplay.
it is currently quite annoying at some points of the maps. If it doesn't get fixed it is quite likely that the community will be using _se maps on their servers and all the work gone into normal versions will be a waste. Last edited by WethriN: 06-14-2012 at 08:53 AM. |

First SS isn't fog, the T's just blend in better there. It always catches me out, i must learn :P

Maybe valve have left fog in the game because they need a way reduce the amount of rendered things in the game for the consoles? They don't want to make the games to different on different platforms so they keep a little bit of fog on the pc. Just a guess though.

Where there's dark spots like in tunnels or the back of water on Aztec, the laminated fog really helps you spot enemies, and in the distance if the fog is right it can give nice silhouettes to help visibility. It's not because of consoles. It needs to be adjusted on the maps you mentioned definitely, but not really removed, we have _se maps for that.

Fog needs to be removed. Completely, 100% removed. Then the game will look good and have a chance in competitive play.

On the image on dust2 where your in the scope, some of the scope post processing adds to the visibility interference. While in your scope, everything gets a bit blurry around the edges and looses color.

In it's current state fog helps people at medium range pop out against the environment but still obscures people at long range. Which isn't much of an improvement if a gain somewhere subtracts somewhere else. To me, ideally, fog would be tuned to improve visibility at the longest possible sightrange on each map. That way fog's entire purpose is to improve visibility at a distance that it's hard to see anyway. And it does nothing else.
