Need much, much more information about your system and the specific errors.

Go to your Steam library and up at the top of it is a Help tab. Click that and press System Information. Let Steam analyze your computer, and you can copy-paste that info here. Please don't go into the "but I can run another company's games just fine" thing, because Source is very specific and picky about running on certain kinds of hardware.

Do you own other Source games for the engine to run? (Half Life 2, the episodes, TF2 and Portal (can be freebies), Counterstrike Source, Left 4 Dead (will only provide engine)? If you have none of those, gmod won't run. I have to assume that you DO have at least the freebie TF2 and/or Portal.

Is your system capable of running Source games at all? Have you ever been able to run Gmod or other source games? How do they run, if you do?

How long do you let the game run before giving up? Do you have any addons downloaded? If so, remove them and verify the gmod game files.

If you have never played Gmod, but DO own other Source games, make sure that you've opened each of those games at least once, to 'prime' the contents for use in Garry's mod.

Verify the game files for your Source games, including Gmod. Right-click on the game icon in your library, choose Properties, then Files, and then verify them. Do that for all of them, RESTART Steam.

Good luck. If something does or does not work, please reply with the system specs or how you got it to work for future reference.

I have played GMod before on this computer, in the last week. Monday I installed Portal 2. Beat that, go to play GMod today and all it does is pop up with the icon on the bottom of my screen. I can hear the sounds in the menu. but can't see them. I validated TF2 and Portal 2. Tried to run GMod, and all it does is the screen flashes twice, like it always does and then it pops up with the icon on the bottom of my screen. I can hear the sounds in the menu. but can't see them. Please help me, I have tried everything!

Have you by chance tried rolling back your ATI drivers? If you're using the current Catalyst center, disable that. See if that helps.

Oh and also, if this helps, the last time I played. I changed the resolution from like 600 x 500. to like 1900 x 1200 approx. Then, it crashed and it never started again.

If you right-click on the game, and in Properties, there is a way to change the launch parameters. Add -windowed to it and see if that helps you. You SHOULD be able to get back into the options and reduce the size

What is the normal resolution on your screen?

For the Catalyst center, that should be an option if you right-click on your desktop. I'm not intimately familiar with each of the cards/styles so I'm not sure beyond that what to tell you. I haven't used mine since before January, when things for Source games started getting messed up. The ATI/AMD driver issue has yet to be resolved, though, so it MIGHT be part of the problem.

I'd say try windowed mode, first, though.
