Why does the tf2 community promote mediocres
while browsing tf2 youtube videos I came across comments mentioning people like acesgamer and shibby so I decided to check them out, and my first impression after watching a couple of videos from channels above is (why do they have so many views/likes?)
its actually very sad to see people who are really bad at the game and speak non-sense for the most part in their commentaries GET this support/attention. So I came here to see what does the SPUF community think about this. Discuss! |

Oh, but we do hate them here. Imo though, Ace isn't as bad as Shibby since he talks about relevant stuff.

I don't like shibby, nothing personal but I find his videos boring.
I prefer star or jerma, they usually have interesting topics |

STAR is good at market gardning. And shibby is mostly drunk. Don't know who acegammer is.

Jerma has the best voice and topics.
Star has the best gameplays and is the funniest. Shibby has... cats? |

I would LOVE to see commentary by people who are amazing at tf2. Just saying. Perhaps someone around the internet somewhere is reading this and thinking to themselves: “Hey, I rock at tf2, I have a good computer with storage capacity for video, an excellent microphone, some free time and motivation. I should make some videos!”

Star just seems like an all around nice guy who is there more to entertain people than to give his opinion on stuff, so I like him best.

I play TF2 every day and i never watch "gameplay" videos and commentaries of the users mentioned above. My best guess (without even looking) is that the youtube statistics for those vids show most viewed by 13-17 year old boys.....
If you want to see good videos look for the old my gaming edge "mumble" and commentary videos of league games. You might actually learn something from those. |

Shibby has admitted in a really old video STAR is everybody's favorite TF2 commentator, also Shibby works at Machinima. AcesGamer he isn't that good at the game, but his only good videos are the ones related to trading, its funny how in his gameplay videos he always complains how the other team has 4 snipers.

If you want to watch videos from good players, watch competitive vids. I have no idea who most of those people are anyway.

STAR is my personal favourite commentator. Mostly because he can entertain and keeps it real with off not incredibly serious videos, as well as off topic stuff every now and then, such as his rant about Sweet Genius and the tale of the time he went to a mental hospital. I do like some of the others, including Aces and Shibby, but STAR will always be my favourite.
