MTP-my thoughts

I hate to say this, but I am disappointed. The creators of MTP should not feel bad, for they have done a wonderful job of showing the Pyro.

But they have not shown my Pyro.

The current MTP makes the Pyro out to be a sad, sad case of a human being lost in the realms of insanity, so far beyond reason that he hallucinates a world of joy to cover up his atrocious crimes and keep himself from suicide at realizing his condition.

This video made me cry for the Pyro, a sad, sad being.

But the problem is, I don't want to cry for him.

My Pyro is also insane. But instead of seeing a realm of Happiness, he sees a realm of chaos and darkness. my Pyro didn't go insane from being shut up in a suit- My Pyro shut himself up in the suit to 'protect' himself from the monstrosities he 'sees' around him. My Pyro doesn't spread joy,
my Pyro burns all not because he sees it as a help to others, but because he sees everyone else as a monstrous horror.

My Pyro is not a happy man-child, lost in his schizophrenic delusion of happiness, but a scared man-child who locked himself away behind a suit, gas mask and flamethrower to save himself from the horrors of this world.

My Pyro is a tortured spirit cleansing the world with fire, fully realizing the deaths he causes, but viewing them as the slaying of monsters, not a sickeningly sad being who kills when he believes to please others.

My Pyro is like Batman gone wrong, forever locked away in his fears, until he finally became fear.

So congrats on showing your opinion of The Pyro, Valve, but you have not shown my Pyro.

Well, the creators never sought to create your pyro. They sought to create Valve's Pyro.

You can always make your own video for your Pyro.

It is your Pyro, after all.

So what you're saying, basically, is that your Pyro is an "edgy" angsty teenager like yourself? (except setting people on fire obviously)

Wow, this is a much better concept than what Valve came up with for Meet The Pyro.

Haha, no. heck no. I am very happy with my life, and am rather sane in comparison to your stereotypical 'teenager.'

Did I mention that I enjoy reading 'I, Claudius' and 'History of the Medieval World' for fun?

I don't see everyone as out to get me, and I'm not immersed in a world that makes me want to hide and/or kill everyone. I have a job at my local library, and am friends with all the staff there.

I just don't see why the Pyro was portrayed this way. How many insane cases IRL had a madman that believed he was giving people lollypops and playing hide-and seek with his victims?

My pyro is a mumbling idiot who finds fire to be all-around entertaining. What does that say about me I wonder...

...that I lack imagination, clearly.

I must admit, I felt somewhat similar to how you felt. I was basically expecting a Christian Brutal Sniper out of Pyro. I highly doubt that a man is capable of experiencing that bad of a distortion of reality, at least not unless hallucinogenics are involved. Before this becomes a conspiracy, I'm going to state that the pyro has both mind-bending goggles welded inside his mask, and has to constantly breathe hallucinogenics with oxygen from his tank given to him by TF Industries with the lie that "He'd die without it."
