So, does Multiplayer work now?

Loved playing this (previous Spellforce 2 games) with friends until the servers went offline. Does it work now?
Are we still dependent on JoWood or , will local hosting work?
We're never interested in using 3rd party programs to play games FWIW

Anyone? I want it to work through the Jowood game, not using Hamachi.

As you can see on the product pages, the old SpellForce titles are "Singleplayer" only, at least if we are talking about the official servers. As for SpellForce 2 Faith in Destiny Multiplayer servers are working. We don't want to hide anything from you or let you buy the games under wrong conditions - you should get what is offered on the product page.

No offense but, when I bought Spellforce 2 Shadow Wars and Dragon Storm, they were listed as Single and Multiplayer. JoWood shut the servers down ( about 6 months after me buying the game for my friends) and never patched the game to support local hosting. Players had to resort to 3rd party (in my opinion shady) game hosting clients.
I loved playing SpellForce 2 with my friends in co-op games but, the loss of hosting servers and lack of local hosting killed the game for us. Has this changed?
If Nordic Games went belly up tomorrow ( I hope they dont), will we still be able to play together online without resorting to a 3rd party program to imitate a LAN?
Can we play Dragon Storm and Shadow Wars content online now?
If the answer to both questions is yes, i will buy at least 4 copies.

edit/ just to be clear, I bought the old games when multiplayer was working

As you said, back in time under JoWooD times, the servers went offline. That is a fact. We could just have corrected the product page to Singleplayer only, so that you will get everything promised in the product information. Dragon Storm and Shadow Wars are Singleplayer only games as stated. As for SpellForce 2 Faith in Destiny, Multiplayer is now Steamworks, therefore as long as Steam is existing there will be a Multiplayer for Faith in Destiny.

ARGH are you freaking kidding me?

8 euros down the drain. It's not much, but considering I only spend something like 50$ a year on games and apps... Well, serves me right for not reading the product page. I just assumed that a steam strategy game would have official multiplayer, whether through itself or steam.

If I had known, maybe I would have bought the new one. Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk. It's not your fault anyway, it's JoWood for going under.

We are looking for merging our Faith in Destiny code with the Shadow Wars and Dragon Storm code so multiplayer is back. However I cannot give an estimate on this.
