Is there going to be a preload link before the release?

^Subject.

Because I would like to make a Torchlight 2 review asap.

Thanks!

If you have the beta-client on your machine, you probably will be able to copy the content in your steam-directory, once it starts downloading (so you might have some advantage).
I think there will be a bunch of updates but some files will be the same as in the beta (steam checks the files wether they work or not, before overwriting or downloading them new).

i dont think this will work, it wont have the steam files in it and will have to scan the entire folder and replace everything in it, it will be faster to just download it, plus steam downloading is way better than runics, took me 2 days to get the beta to download

I'm guessing he isn't trying to download the game faster, but he in fact is just wanting to know if those who pre-ordered the game will get early access to the game like a week before release, or whatever.

I don't think download size or speed is what he is trying to deal with.

^ Yeah, maybe. But the Idea of preloading is confusing.

^ ^ Well, Steam does not load into the game-folder much. I have copied many games I had before Steam purchase into steam-folder just to see steam verify the game for about 99% and then saying: ready to play. --> Best example: AoE3 ... I just copied the entire directory. It work great. It even accepted the mods and the custom maps!
It heavily depends on the integration of steam into the game. Some Games are just copy-pasta-like on steam

Yep that is correct Brent. I've a website and I do game reviews as a hobby and I would like to make a Torchlight 2 asap.

If anyone's interested, I've uploaded the first 54 clips of my Torchlight Alchemist walkthrough series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPjnO...0&feature=plcp I've just gotten the hang of video editing and should be uploading more HD videos all week this week.

Thanks for the replies guys! I hope there will be a preloading link.

Good thing about Steam is, they made backing up downloaded games easier, so I just download almost everything I own and put them in a backup HD. Got a new PC? Just copy everything to the new PC

Just so you know, the beta files are a bit different from the release files, and beta saves won't work with the release game, due to things like the skill revamping.

Pre-loading would be nice but I can't image this game being too large in terms of file size so perhaps considerably less server load. Still a nice sensation though when the game is there and ready to play on day one though.

Of course, not that there will need to be. I doubt the game will be anything over 2GB in size.
