It's the game's crappy coding. Either it doesn't bother telling you the player when you're being shot or its hit detection is more sporadic than Bad Company 2's.

I either practically one-shotted people or began thinking I could have done more damage to them had I taken the bullets out of the gun and thrown them. It's a horrible game. Shouldn't have made it out of alpha.
