SFM crash on start

Im trying to start SFM, but it always gives me the error message:
"The Source Filmmaker will need connection to Steam. The softwarecan be run with the command -Steam, but certain function will not be available. You can also run the Steam Client in offline mode if the internet connection concern to you."

What the hell is this? Help pls. Thanks, you are all very helpful. Not even a view on the topic.

I'm having the same problem, or I had the same problem. I googled this to see if anyone else had the same problem and had fixed it, but bad luck for both of us. I think this may help:

Go into Steam, main page. Find properties, and opt into the Steam Beta Update, even if you already are opted in. Then restart steam, see how that goes for you. It seems to have worked for me.
