Good in single player or made for coop?
As thread title says, will I enjoy this in single player?

I haven't bought the game yet (definitely won't pass the flash sale though), but I heard the singleplayer difficulty is at some point between Donkey Kong Country Returns and Super Meat Boy. Coop just makes the game easier because you can constantly save your mates when they die...

It may look like a multiplayer game, but its a perfectly adequate single player platformer. As above mentioned, it does get easier when playing with two+ players, simply because you have a chance to die within a stage and continue thanks to the other player.
However there were barely any sections in which all players were alive because the screen is so cluttered and "Friendly Fire" is always on. This basically leads to a huge amount of hitting each other and such. While that's fun for a while it does get tiresome if you actually want to enjoy and get through the game. tl;dr Great to play solo, but slightly harder. Multi can get frustrating. |

Perfectly beatable in single player. Playing with one friend is the "sweet spot", more than that and everybody will end up slapping each other in the game and for reals.

Single player has been amazing.
With one player, difficulty seems really good so far (about 5 hours). Good check point placement, but difficult enough that you end up using those points occasionally (or at least I do). Single might even be prefferred, and if not its still worth it. It seems much better than solo mario, as the levels are well designed. |

Quitting after ~8hrs in as the difficulty ends up being more than I can handle. Eh, still worth the money though. Especially if your the kind of person who is decent at playing video games. |

I never played co-op (forgot about it, actually) and loved the game, best platformer I've played in a while. It was challenging in sections but I wouldn't say it's a difficult game or anything.

Just finished the game solo, and I enjoyed it immensely. The controls are spot on, the art style is beautiful, with matching music. As swolek said above, the game does get challenging in sections, but overall it's not too difficult.

100%'ed it in 12 hours, only a few parts are super-meat boy esque (and a few challenges if you're going for 100%), otherwise difficulty's just fine (and since I've cleared super meat boy too, difficulty was never an issue
)

But love Rayman 1, the original... My favorite game EVER
