I want to mute text chat and voice commands

Valve please give me the possibility to disable two of the mostly used troll tools:

1. text chat

2. voice commands

That would reduce my rage quitting and blocking radically

Most of the players on my block list are trolls who trash-talk/insult in text chat, or use voice/laugh commands to annoy the opposite team.

I've started playing Call of Duty now because you can mute text chat there. It's heavenly – but it's not L4d2!!

Please Valve introduce this feature to make L4d2 gaming experience more friendly. I love the game

PS. I think this would reduce the use of the block feature, too (which seems to be experienced as a problem by some ppl – not me though, I love the block feature exactly for these 2 reasons).

made an addon where i remove all annoying sounds, like that crappy laugh or other sounds that u dont need when playing this game....

just put the files in left4dead2/left4dead2/addons

the voice commands i can understand. text chat I've never understood why someone can't simply ignore what someone else is saying, trash talk or not. When i see kids trying things like that I shrug and go on with the game, then again i have willpower so.... yeah.

You make a good point but some people come to l4d2 simply to vent frustrations/anger basically they have issues , on my server I have this option and do use it when for example someone on my team keeps calling us all noobs or WTF was that ect BUT he is a decent player so to kick would be a waste instead I usually give them one round gagged it normally improver there attitude ( on my server it stops everyone seeing what they write or say )

You would miss everything , from what ive seen a lot of people are sensitive about different things , now its ok saying ignore them but it can be hard , when i do it on my server people are relieved and play better without someone pointing out every mistake they make
And to all the people who do that what is the reason ? Do you think it helps the team ??
try pointing out when they do something good instead it gets results , people always play better with a positive team

I was actually working on that before I realized that it'd block all chat notifications aswell, in Confogl that'd blow.

Source supports blocking stuff from chat, like achievements notice, message from users, messages from server etc

I tested it with my hud some months ago, but it doesnt have any effect, i choose the things to block but still appearing

I think it must be activated by developers first. Unless i missed something...

yep, that filters buttons basically changes this cvar:
cl_chatfilters : 31 : , "a", "cl" : Stores the chat filter settings

and nop, doesn't work from what I tested

what r u on about
!afk so you can go into spec mode while you put out pc fire ect and a bot takes your place , as for what it stands for I dont care !spec would do !break anything
And why do you all me a griefer for wanting an option to take a break in VS im not talking endless breaks maybe limit spec mode to 1 min then kick
