Spellforce 2 - Faith in Destiny on flash sale for another hour, is it any good?

Just curious, actually looks like something I would be interested in, but I'd like to get some opinions from anyone who has it or any new owners.

I like it, but I guess, my opinion does not count I would sum up, if graphics are not as important for you (as it is an stand-alone addon of the 2006' SpellForce 2 game) however more interested in great gameplay or if you want to look into a genre mix of RTS and RPG, you will like it.

Stay tuned.

Just looking at the screenshots alone, the gameplay kind of reminds me of Warcraft 3, you only have a small to medium army at most and some of them level up and get stronger as you go. No idea if that rings true at all since as I said I gleaned this from looking only at the screenshots, but if it is in any way similar to Warcraft 3 I know I would like it.

Also what does "stay tuned" mean? can we expect to see it go on sale again at this price? Or perhaps lower?(during the summer sale, that is)

No, I am just always writing "stay tuned", as I like this . It will not go any lower in price and probably not again being on Flash sale promotion within this summer promotion (just if Valve wants to do a "Community's choice" voting on SpellForce which is up to them and there is also no guarantee that SpellForce will win ).

(Stay tuned!)

PS: In terms of building up armies and cities as well as doing quests and trying to get better armors and stuff for your main characters, it is similar to Warcraft 3, I would say.

Would you mind commenting on my previous post that the gameplay could be similar to Warcraft 3? I'm really curious what it's like.

Your comparison to Warcraft 3 is actually pretty accurate. The gameplay is extremely similar to the bonus campaign where there is more emphasis on the heroes. I would definitely recommend this to you - great mix of RPG and RTS. I might recommend picking up one of the older games though rather than FiD -- much more content and cheaper. Personally I started off with Spellforce 2 Gold and got 70 hours out of the two campaigns, then just picked up the other games on sale now. You of course can't go wrong picking up the complete pack, but heaven knows there's no shortage of good games on sale now...

The older games look more 3rd/1st person RPG rather than RTS with a gods-eye view over the map like Faith in Destiny. Are they all different style completely?

Anyone else for final words? 20 minutes until this sale ends.

You'll spend about 95% of your time in the top-down view, which works just fine. The third-person shots are "cool" but the game isn't really playable from that perspective.

Yeah I ended up just buying the complete pack as IAmJew88 said, I'm at work so I probably won't be able to try this until later tonight or the weekend. I am fairly confident I'll enjoy it, we'll see though.

Can someone comment on the terms of content in Faith in Destiny? I've read many reviews that it sounds like this was a rush job and only includes 4 single player missions (not even a campaign). I have all the other Spellforce games and wondering if it's even worth picking up Faith in Destiny.

Red face Mind Over Matter Studios have ruined this games multiplayer & LAN GOOD JOB!

I haven't even played the single player yet and found out how spectacularly made this game is right first of all if you can see continue in the main menu and press it... it crashes your game how AWESOME is that?!

I mean why is continue the first option I see I haven't even started a game yet

That's not only the best bit about this game the multiplayer is awesome too, how awesome you ask?

well lets start with the lobby shall we first of all if you cant see anyone in the lobby that's because its probably not working or... your the only one in chat but if you can hear sound effects then chances are the UI is bugged and you just need to reconnect.

Ok so you got into chat and you want to join a game but there are no games because no one so you hit back and low and behold access violation error and forces the game to close what the f... but wait this game is famous for its co-op features especially in other spellforce 2 games...

Hold on a minute one map a quest map? you can make a level 15 character right of the bat u can click on the NPCs that have quest markers u get some quests all is good now time to leave and congrats you have completed Free play mode...

To sum it off you just took spellforce 2 ripped out all the free play maps add a new game mode domination turned the story into a game thats quicker than a sega mega drive game in duration and poorly tested congrats.

Way to release a "INCOMPLETE" game!

Kivy - That sucks to hear you're having tons of issues with the game already. I wonder if the developer is even working on a patch or adding additional content such as the old MP modes and not just the new one.

Looks like this is a pass until it becomes extremely cheap.

This game is not played as Warcraft III, which has a really unique gameplay.
I'd say, this game is played as any classic RTS with heroes, i.e. Starcraft, if you want, and has some hero-oriented missions, which are played about same as in Battle for Middle-Earth.

For 2006 it was okay, but now it is 2012...
