Frosty Remake, survival map

Frosty Remake is a reimagining of the popular survival map Frosty by Lycosa. The map has been redesigned for a new type of gameplay, you will no longer be able to hole up behind turrets. Try to complete it on Hard difficulty.

Changelog:
v 1.5
- bloom fix
- added random "button press" objectives to prevent players from sitting in one place
- added markers for objectives
- blocked some of stuckable areas
v 1.6
- fixed "Nuclear detonation" continues to appear after all drones are killed
- fixed areas that block player's view
- fixed parasites falling from the sky and parasites appear too close near marines
- allowed mortars for all difficulties and added 3 more mortars
v 1.7
- made some buildings semitransparent not to block player view
- added a bridge to allow bots to enter the map
- removed 3 mortars because they cause lags
- changed light_environment angle
v 1.8
- removed commander sounds
v 1.9
- blocked lots of stuckable areas
- made more semitransparent buildings not to block player view
- added ammo, grenades, stim
- removed flamers, chainsaws, sentry pickups
- put all items into crates, added boxes and crates
- decreased ammount of aliens and spawn speed
- fixed aliens spawning on marine's head and blocking marine
- added sprites for hacking computers
- added lighting
- enabled bots to enter the map, added pushing trigger

rn't these changes a bit too much for this map?
  • u r changing the gameplay, by forcing players to move - i do not know if that's for best or worse, since the survival part is tough as it is.
  • by changing gameplay, u r changing the category of this map, kicking it out of survival.
  • i would praise the intention, only if u rly balance the new gameplay with map's attributes, which may b impossible and tough work, since, well, the map was intended for survival turtle tactics, and only doable that way.
  • why do u need 2 remove original author's voice?

I can release it separately not to replace the original map, so you'll be able to play both versions without having to install\uninstall them.

- IMHO it's better.
- OK. Agreed. What type is it then?
- Agreed that it's too hard to win, even on Hard. I think I need to decrease the number of aliens...
- The voice is very annoying and unpleasant to hear if you listen it on high quality headphones.

  1. i may agree on that.
  2. it's some kind of a crossover, but it doesn't matter much, as we only do a single distinction - survival and not-survival.
  3. balancing is the key, and it requires sooo much work. i hope u didn't decide doing it lightheartedly.
  4. it's not like u hear him all the time, and still, since u r messing with other ppl's stuff, i guess some original content should b left alone.

if you're working on bloomfixing and little errors,gameplaychanges go behond that. i noticed changes to the spawns on comm station too ( xp the mortars).

Mortars are fun, and they actually help you kill if you play smartand use their projectiles against the swarm itself. I'm not sure i agree with messing with the spawns too much because of that.

Evildave, I've contacted map authors and got permission to modify their maps (Comm station, Midnight harvest and Frosty for now). I find changing gameplay fun and interesting. Especially if this is something new and yet unknown.

Version 2.0 is out.

v 2.0
- Changed gameplay. Now you don't need to kill 800 aliens. The goal now is to press 16 buttons around the map. Then move to another sector and open 2 doors. The faster you press all buttons the faster you finish the round.
- Removed more stuckable areas
- Removed some parasite spawners
- Added mortars
