So apparently valve thought it would be a good idea to....

Phase out and get rid of the use, safety, and availability of trading middlemen.

This decision has come about due to circumstances regarding middlemen some being TRADE BANNED for their actions. At this point, after discussing this point with multiple admins of the affiliated communities and SR, it has been determined that the best course of action to take is to temporarily suspend this practice for an indefinite amount of time until some resolution to this issue can be found. Any questions should be directed to a SteamRep Admin

Turns out it could mainly be due to paypal trading, which valve has taken a neutral stance on for a while.

Supposedly they now are against the use of middlemen, which are reputable people who hold onto your items during trades with... less reputable people. It's essentially a community made safety system for trading, and ever since the whole TF2WH bull I guess they're taking a very strict stance on this.

This phrase should be saved for when something is so monumentally worthless, that it is impossible for any sane human to care. However, this issue DOES have worth to those who trade, not even necessarily "traders". I suggest you save it for a more appropriate instance.

Like it or not, trading happens. Trading is good for everyone, even if at the end some deranged maniacs hoard and scheme. Nine out of ten times, this will be what happens whenever it is possible to trade in this kind of system where there exist not only rarities, but also items with limited quantities. Hating trading as a whole simply because some take advantaged of it is simply misguided.

I believe that this is a terrible idea. In various communities, middle men keep large, shady trades safe from manipulation, should the middle man themselves not be manipulated. While removing them might seem to fix a few issues, it will simply create many more to fill in their gap. If Valve can not differentiate between sharking and middle manning, then that is their own fault.

The ? First TF2WH, an easy method to get certain items for normal players, and now middlemen, the people that make trading safer? I don't understand.

Removing middle men will not remove these "black market" transactions. It will simply make the scammer's job easier.

I have a feeling Valve is going to move towards being able to transfer money through the Steam Wallet, and they want a cut.

Let's hope Valve doesn't pull a Blizzard.
