Well, you will not get multiplayer match easily going by just randomly checking. You can just however start the server and maybe someone joins eventually.

Honestly, OP, the game doesn't have many people playing. Your best bet is to find some friends [or people on these forums] to play with in order to get a game going. Someone may eventually join, but that'll be the rare exception to the rule.

It probably won't change for awhile, due to the negative reaction the game received at launch.
