New on Gothic: Patches? What games and where to find?
Hi. I just bought Gothic 1, 2 and 3, but I read that you must apply some patches (community patches, I think).
Please, orientation. What games must I patch? 3 of them? Steam doesn't patch them when you install the game? And... where can I found them? On the developer site or here? Thanks, guys. |

The North American versions of Gothic 1 and 2 come packaged with all official patches, so you don't have to do anything with either of those two -- they're pretty much ready to go "out of the box," so to speak.
There's a rather extensive patch for Gothic 3 called the "Community Patch" which has made it up to version 1.74, I believe -- I don't think this is installed with the Steam version of Gothic 3, but you should probably run the game and verify if it is or not. It's pretty much essential for Gothic 3. Two popular sites from which to download the CP are on World of Gothic or on the official Community Patch Team website. Note that there are also unofficial community patches for Gothic and Gothic 2, known as the "IronKeep" patches. These are meant to fix minor issues in the game that the official patches never addressed. I've not used them myself, though I've heard reports of these patches introducing as many new problems for each one that they fix, so use them at your own risk. |
