See title.
It looked like it started to launch the first time, every time after that nothing happens.

hey guys, i never got the error but the game just wouldnt launch. so i messed with my computer... i got it to launch perfectly every time. what i did was i found the exectutible, if u dont know how to get to it go to "run" and put it c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\the walking dead\. after you do that right click on the executible and click "troubleshoot compatibility". click reccomended settings and it should work just fine after that.

THIS... Works for most games with similar issues--fixed it for me.

click the "that didn't fix it" option, and select older.. Last ep a lot of people (including myself) had to go back to XP. I'll have to be doing it for this ep too, since it's not loading again. Well so much for keeping my saves..

I got the same thing. But when I did trouble shoot after I selected the option it just said application incompatible. What does that mean it's incompatible with?

What do you mean "click reccomended settings" there is no option to do this, it simple does a scan then asks you to close the window.

I fixed it for Windows 8, (may work in Windows 7) here's how I did it.

1) Download dinput8.dll:

http://www.topdll.com/download/dinpu...1539e0d1ce7905

2) Unzip dinput8.dll and put it in your Steam directory for The Walking Dead c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\the walking dead\

3)Launch game.

After I saw the last episode was available, i clicked to play it and it said it wasnt available. I closed the program, reopened it and clicked episode status and it said its available. The problem i had from that point forward was if i wanted to continue my saved game from episode 4, i would have to skip the very end of episode 4 and just play episode 5 letting the computer make my decisions for me for the end of episode 4. Kind of irritated me but if anyone else has those issues, thats what I did and it worked that way.

Thanks Sta7ic

Your fix got mine going. A bit sad that a fresh install of a game needs a 3rd party dll copied to get it running.

Doesn't say much for their testing and quality control.

Brand spanking new install of Windows 8 64 here.

Thanks for the help.

Yep, this fixed it for me too. Thanks for your clear instructions! I wonder why we have to do this - it has to be a known issue!
