SF1 Platinum - Clicking Options makes the program crash

I can't edit the options. I read in another thread here to go to the spellforce install directory and edit the config.lua, however, when I go to program files (X86/steam/steaamapps/spellforce - there is no config.lua to edit in this folder or any of the subfolders in this category.

How can I get into my options to configure my settings?

I was able to fix it so I can play in -window mode, I'd still like to get it working in full screen mode if I can though

i really cant remember, but when i had those crashed i had one specific setting enabled that i shouldnt have touched.
After i foxed that, my game runs fine for 40 hours without crash.
But, i cant remember what exactly the problem was.
I know however that i play in fullscreen.

That would be great if I was able to get in to the settings to touch anything.

if I remove "-window" from the launch parameters, I cannot select the options button, or the game closes.

I just took the brute force way around it ... if I start the game in '-windowed' mode I can open options and save changes. Then I go back and restart the game full screen.

Lot of hoops to jump through, but at least I can make changes that way.

Options menu causing crashes

The 'Options' menu crashes seem to affect only some Radeon cards (possibly only newer ones). I have a 6870 and experienced this problem. Fortunately, I still have an old Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT and didn't experience any crashes with that card. Check the Widescreen Gaming Forum for widescreen fixes which will allow you to run the game in widescreen resolutions. Unfortunately, the fixes are vert-. If somebody could figure out how to increase the FOV, that would be great.
