TF2 not working

I have the system requirements, but when its loading to get into a game (where it says if cheat you'll get band and its VAC protected and all that. There is a loading bar too.)When it gets 3/4 of the way it stops. I waited around 5 minutes, came back and it has moved. I can't cancel it. I can close the program, but it just doesn't do anything. I really wanted to play this game and I waited 4 hours for it to download. Can someone please help with this?

Someone said with an old computer it can take up to 10 minutes...
