Is TF2 Outpost safe?

I've found out about this wonderful looking website called TF2 Outpost. However, it seems to require you to log in through your steam account in order to post offers, and I'm somewhat wary of third party sites that want me to sign in through steam. Is this some sort of phishing scam, or is it legit?

The site is legit.

BUT, if you ever see a site like that again, type steamcommunity to google and search it, click the first thing that pops up and login there, then click "login via steam" or something on your desired site. If it wants you to login again the site's not legit, just a way to be sure about them sites.

It uses openid to identify you, they never know your password because you log into steamcommunity.com, a official steam website.

Along with tf2b, tf2wh, tf2items, tf2tp.

I was wondering this, too.

You know what? Valve should sticky this thread for future traders to see.

Anything that uses the Openid system to log you in is pretty safe. These sites normally direct you back to steamcommunity.com, and you log in there rather than via their own website.

Of course, I may be wrong...

It's safe.

It's a low/high balling heaven and you won't find a good deal to save your life, but it is safe.

I wouldn't use it. Trading for TF2 items was designed to be while you were in game/in a server. If you take it out side of game you kill it more so than what it already is as its not being played. I suggest sticking to trade servers as at least then you are still in the game when you do make trades and there are plenty of them to go around.

...what

so you want me to spend hours jumping between trade servers, listening to little kids yell at people and spam their ty music, instead of posting a trade to a site, waiting, and trading once i get an offer?

no thanks, i'd MUCH prefer the latter

I started using TFitems, but TF2 outpost seems better. Which do people prefer?

Outpost seems to have more users than every other site I should imagine. If I'm not trading (like, 1 day a week ), it's always nice to have a browse on the site for things I can't afford.

you don't have that problem on better managed trade servers and you get better deals. Keep in mind again that the game is what suffers when you are not IN the game. TF2 is going down in player count each day and if it wasn't for the updates Valve pushes out it would have died by now.

It's legit, but half the people you see will greatly overprice their items or lowball while buying.
