Is Crysis 2 Worth it?

At $11.99 is it worth a buy? Heard it was way more linear than the first, but some said it was still a great game.

And everyone says the multiplayer sucks.

It's still a bit too expensive for my liking. I'd wait.

Not worth it.
Very linear tunnel shooter, a huge step back from the first game. The level design has many flaws.

I liked the first(though quality dropped after at the latter half imo.), hated the second, paraphrasing some forum user here somedays ago, it's more on rails than railworks, you lost all notion of choice on how to engage situations or what path to take. While the general graphical effects are improved much of the richness of the engine was taken away to make it native to consoles, the suit functions while expanded with upgrades were simplified from the first game at least initially, I think it should be selling for a max of 3 dollars to be fair.

The one redeeming factor I can give about Crysis 2 is that the soundtrack was most excellent, true work of art.

Indeed. Hans Zimmer is god.

Playing through Crysis 2, I never stopped to think to myself about how bad a part of it was. Like others have said, it's not as good as the first Crysis. But given that the first Crysis game was infinitely better than your typical CoDs or Battlefields of today, a step down from that still isn't terrible.

It looks great in DX11, the gunplay is very visceral, the enemies are interesting, and you still have the option to play more stealthy or go in guns blazing. So in my opinion, yes, it's worth around $12. $25 with a populated multiplayer, but that's not so much the case now.

I have a 2 year old laptop and Crysis 2 looks superb on it. I love the game, it's amazing in single player and multiplayer. I haven't had to wait to get into a game in multiplayer and it's really fun- very different to modern warfare style play because you have crazy jump and armour and stealth.

I can't recommend Crysis 2 enough.

A nasa computer? Do you live in 1990's?

It isn't hard to afford building a nice computer even with a part time job at 7.25 an hour.

C2's setting of New York (with the DX11 and HiDef texture mods) is something to behold, and it is a very enjoyable game on its own. However, compared to the previous games, unfortunately CryTek took a cliched step back with its campagin design: As others have pointed out, it is a much more funnelled affair, and the gameplay style has taken a lot of cues from CoD - likely in an effort to appeal to those players as it marked its debut on the consoles.

Out of the series, Warhead was the best individual game for me. The series had potential at that point as it brought something different to the table of FP shooters. I still had a lot of fun with C2, and at the sale price it is a great buy, but now it is just another shooter.
