Overlay not working (Tropico 4)

Hey,

I've bought this game in the last flash sale it was available and I've been liking it so far. But my problem is, that my overlay isn't working, which makes chatting with friends extremely difficult, because the game crashes when I try to maximize it after minimizing it to chat. My overlay isn't disabled, I only disabled it once because it caused crashes when I tried to change the resolution, but I reactivated it after I did so. I know from a friend that it works for him.

Any possible fixes for this?

Bump, still need help on this

I've tried to reinstall the game multiple times, also tried to start the game with and without the overlay multiple times, it's still not working. Also checked the files for missing ones with the steam function.

I've got no clue what else could help.

Do you happen to have Nvidia Optimus? If so, then that's causing the problems. As far as I know, there are no fixes for it. You could try disabling the overlay and then alt tabbing the game away without crashing it.

I'm on a regular desktop computer, no Optimus there, just the normal nVidia drivers.

Edit: Just to make this clear again: My problem is that the overlay isn't working, the game won't crash unless minimized, which won't be needed when the overlay works.
