Unhappy Unable to load Steam support library

Hello,

since this day I have a issue with my steam servers. I had to restart some game servers and now I cant bring them online again.

It looks like they can't get the steam master servers. I haven't changed any firewall rule. OS is Windows and the dedi server has been restarted already.

I got this messages on DODS, HL2MP, CS:GO and 3rd party games:

Code:
Initializing Steam libraries for secure Internet server
*********************************************************
*********************************************************
* Unable to load Steam support library.*
* Unable to load Steam support library.*
* This server will operate in LAN mode only.*
* This server will operate in LAN mode only.*
*********************************************************
*********************************************************
Warning: sv_steamgroup is not applicable in LAN mode.
Strange thing is, my L4D2 servers are online but wont appear in my steamgroup servers.

Any ideas for help?

cheers

I have the same issue with my CSGO servers, for the past couple of days. I suspect an update to steamcmd will fix it. But we'll have to wait for that

My CSS servers are fine.

I also got the issue on CSS. non of our servers work.

L4D2 servers sending heartbeat to steam master servers and looks online after a while, but they don't connect to steamgroup service

I dont know why this has worked for me but I'll tell you anyway in case it helps you as well.

I installed the steam client on my server, logged in and entered the code for a new computer. Then ran my dedicated servers and they worked right away :/

So maybe there is some kind of account authentication issue? who knows.. just glad im back online for now.

Thanks, was getting the same error and installing the steam client (even though I'm running dedicated servers...) fixed the error.

This error come when you launch srcds first time and you are missing steam_appid.txt file.
Srcds will (try) create steam_appid.txt file in same directory, but you need launch server again.

If steam_appid.txt file didin't appear, do it manually.
Then add inside game Steam Application ID number which can found from gameinfo.txt

Having same issue with my two L4D2 Dedi servers,
Tried installing the steam client, and that fixes the error until there
is a map change, once map has changed I am back to square one ??

What the hell are valve doing to this game, seems they just have to
break something every time they push out an update.

Any more suggestions about this error ??

Excuse the double post but i have solved the issue I was having,
I did another update with the -verify_all switch and the steamclient.dll was replaced.

Now all is good again !!

Hope this helps !!

I did the procedure verify_all, deleted the / bin folder until I downloaded again the TF but nothing to get out this message -> Unable to load Steam support library
Some other tips to resolve this bug?? I checked all the firewall ports and everything else, this update only after it began the error.
I tried also the sv_consistency 0, but no avail.

Do you or have you every had the Steam client installed on the server?

We had this error again today and even redownloaded the TF2 server to no avail. We had uninstalled the Steam client about a week prior because it liked to cause this error when it needed updating, but apparently there were still traces of it in the registry. We removed those traces and everything is running fine again.

i 've got the same issue with all my servers (2 css and 1 csgo) yesterday. I think it happened due to steamcmd bug.

only installing steam client helped, but there are some errors in console:
Quote:
Initializing Steam libraries for secure Internet server
Failed to load Steam Service
ServiceStart: failed to start
really hate srcds and sourcemod and zblock ...
