DiRT 3 not available in my region

DiRT 3 is not available in India. Can I ask my friend who is in the US to login through my account and redeem the AMD key (legit one) and will the game then work in India.

Need help before I make the purchase.

DiRT 3 is now officially available from Flipkart.

You can also redeem DiRT 3 CD key on Steam.

I believe you can only redeem DiRT 3 keys which you get from AMD, you cannot redeem non AMD keys on Steam. Someone who has actually redeemed a non AMD key can comment further.
