Other games have had that message before.... possibly it will update soon. And you will get that refund, after two days + of waiting on a steam ticket.... maybe

The keys are for the DLCs, wait a bit, play the main game until the issue is resolved. It only affects Dr. Ned and Moxxy's Underdome, which are separate and not part of the main story. Secret Armory and Robolution do not need a key.

Na, it will not allow me to play the main game. This is ridiculous, I thought they were in the business of making money from selling games and not from selling fresh air.

Please point out the clause in the SSA that guarantees you instantaneous delivery and activation of your game.
Because, I think you'll find, there isn't one. Thus, so long as they do something about it within a "reasonable" time (definition open to lots of interpretation), then you don't have much recourse. You can fight for a refund, but it won't be instantaneous either. Or you can wait and see if, in a couple of days, Steam contacts the Borderlands people and gets a whole new shedload of keys and then issues you with one. Which is what normally happens, except where the developers go bankrupt or otherwise stop distributing the game. Basically, nobody said you'd be able to play it instantly, or even at all. And in terms of standard contracts, they can probably take up to a month or so to solve the problem either way (refund or a key for you) before you get any sort of valid grounds for complaint. Short version: Suck it up and wait a few days. If it bothers you that much, don't buy through Steam or any other online retailer. |

Borderlands Steam version is suppose to launch fine without any CD-keys. There are only 2 CD-keys for the first two DLC (Zombie Island and Mad Moxxi).

Have you tried asking it to run nicely? Being a rude has never solved anything.

Borderlands has been hit with a lot of sales. Some patience will be needed since complaining about a known problem won't solve anything here. My suggestion is lodge a support ticket (be nice about it) and wait patiently.

Then play TF2 while you're waiting...
(...and I still don't get why Borderlands itself isn't working, you only need CD-keys for the DLC. I asked a friend who doesn't own it to try the free weekend trial, no key and the base game works.) |

Ask for a refund, this game is boring as hell, I seriously believe the name is a typo for Boredomlands.

What I find odd is Steam ran out of keys during the steam sale for this game only last week. They then put it on the Weekend deal but still dont have any keys for customers who bought it a week ago.
You would think they would at least sort out more keys before putting on sale again. |
